hi mate there is realy is no way to tell how many there are but it knowin to have one family types the cichlia.

Then from there it is said that there is many up to fifteen variants i find it septical that there is that many diffrent types, I would believe that there might only be four main groups but diffrent couour variants depending on habbitat of the time, it would be interesting to note that some of the diffrent variaties have not actully been sicentificaly proven to be of diffrent types just diffrent appreances.

it should be noted that in recent years two or three variatries have not been able to be identified but have been common in perticular areas of the world these have been classed as rio till they have been proven a diffrent variant

the most common in the trade are

temensis
occllairs
monoculas

now

intermidia
orincencus (spelling on theses two unsure) are part of what i call the originalls family type

now this is my view only the rest of them are hybrids or types that have changed there biostrucher to suit there habitat or maybbe there diet has dictated and health has decided there physical attributes

mono, orino, temensis, occelaris, azul, kelberi, intermedia, xingu, fogo, plezonia to name a few.

Nevermind the link on the top was perfect. Does anyone know where i can find some monos that can be shipped to indiana?

Look up snookn21 in the vendor section. He usually has some nice cichla in stock and he's got excellent customer service, prices, quality of fish and goes the extra mile for his customers.
