how many venustus in a 180g?

I finally decided what fish to put in the new tank. I just need to know how many I should get

and what kind of decor?? I have a bunch of different possibilities.

would crushed coral be OK for a substrite?

Are you doing a species only tank? You could have quite a few in there while they are small but they grow fast. Once they get into the 6-8 inch range you would have to thin them out. The one I kept was very rowdy and aggressive even to non Venustus fish.

they will be aggressive with each other, so they will pretty much make the decision for you if you get multiples

They are pretty aggressive but in a 180 i would say two males and all females.

great a few rock piles it is.

I have crushed coral for the substrate and some red lava rock with white coral rocks for the piles.


I will post some pics once it is all up and running.


will 2 AC110 with an FX5 be enough filteration?

More like a few large caves rather than rock piles. They will get pretty big for rock piles... A lot of open space with some caves to hide in once in a while.
