i am in the process of building a DIY tank for some stingrays. it will be about 4' wide x 6' long by 2' deep.
i am defently getting 2 hystrix. and am wondering what other types i could mix in with them.
i really like tigers, flowers, and some motoro's.

It will really vary greatly depending on your filtration and your desire to stack pancakes.

make i 4X8 and you will be able to keep every kind of ray for life

for filteration i will either go with a large sump or 2 FX5's. something that does well over 1000 GPH

I run 2 FX5's on my 300 and I would say that would not be sufficient for a tank the size you are planning long term with growing stingrays. I only have 2 rays and I don't plan on getting any more then 4 tops for this tank. One of my FX5's is all mech media and the other is all bio. I would go for a large sump and maybe one FX5 for water polishing if I was you. If all you are keeping in that tank is just rays, I would not do more then 8. Others might do more, but not me. It stresses the system too much.

how big would i need for tigers and flowers?. i can't go any bigger right now so maybe on my next setup i can go for some of those.

consider they can get 36"+ across there disk....
