how orange monos can i stock in my 85 gallon brackish tank i was thinking like three or four since they stay small they will be with fiddler crabs, red claw crabs, two dragon gobys,a small grunting toadfish and a costa rican land crab plus ghost shrimp

monos get to 10"+

you would want about 6 of them, as they are a shoal fish. but i'd rethink your stock list, i think the crabs would end up as food. plus the fact that all the crabs will need some sort of land, and the mono's get as long as they are deep, and M. sebae get deeper.

monos also tend to like marine environments as they get older.

I don't think a pair of violet gobies is a good idea, especially in a tank that size. They're very territorial and without space or others to spread out aggression, they may tear each other apart. You could keep one maybe, but then there's also the toad. Allenbatrachus grunniens max out at a foot in length. Considering the fact that it's a big bottomdweller, I think a mature violet goby would have problems with one of those too.
A lot of sources seem to suggest keeping toadfish in full SW as opposed to fresh or even brackish. Maybe you could do the toad and monos, but I don't know about the other stuff.

orange monos are a different speceis and stay around 5-6" and i dont think my lfs can get 6 of them but ill try to get three or more

i couldnt find any info on google... maybe the .co.uk version cuts them out of searches... you got a scientific name for them? or pics?

also FW toadfish/lionfish/stonefish have big mouths anything up to half there size could be considerd as a meal. there is also little good info available on them. JoelR has a beauty of a specimen. he also said that there is a fully FW morph, from the amazon basin i think. id go and speak to him about your toadfish needs. he knows his stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. It probably isn't advisable to keep a 6" mono with something that grows a foot long and is that predatory.

BTW the freshwater "morph" is Thalassophryne amazonica, commonly known as the "prehistoric monster fish."

It's much smaller than the brackish stonefish.

i will figure out wat do to when he gets that big since he will be inbetween 1-2 inches long when i get him and the monos will be abit larger but i will think of wat to do

ta for the name... no pics on google though... it must be a rare variant. go for it. just avoid the scorpion fish/toadfish fot the time being.
