I have 2 3" cichla one kelberi and a sp. Galaxy in a 10 gal growout im gonna move them into a 55gal growout with my 7" datnoid and 2 3-4" clown loaches. I want to get more cichla. 3 Rio meta orino at 3" but i dont want it to get overstocked. How much should I get?

what size tank are they going in for good?

The 55g is over stocked IMO but long term in the 6x3x2 i would think you should be ok depending on filtration and wc. but thats just my thinking.

Large sumps always work well for filtration. Itd be good to have that ultima or a canister or 2 as well.

As far as stocking.....that dat will eat or bully 3" cichla. I wouldnt add any more fish at the moment. If you want more cichla sell the dat and put all the 3inchers in the 55g. They will need constant wc's and a bigger tank by the time they hit 6-8".

I know they'll be eaten thats why im gonna wait until they get to at least 5". I think I might just get one Rio meta orino considering your comments

YOu shouldnt keep cichla in a 10g until they are 5". Go on craigslist and get a cheap 100g or larger instead of buying more fish. Then get the fish from the 55g to the 100g and the 10g fish to the 55g. With 3 cichla in that 10g you will need to do wc's atleast 3x a week.....but be careful..its a small tank.

Its not technically a 10g its a 20 long split in half. I know you can find cheap tanks on craigslist but they dont come up often in hawaii. And I'm gonna trade in my 7" IT dat for a 3-4" NTT dat and start over. I think i should be good for now. I can always move my larger fish to my newly heated pond :D
