how many adult Cichla monoculus can i house in a 450 gallon (8'x4'x2') with a silver arowana?

For life... three or four would be fine! Load that bad boy up with a few dzen wee ones and pic out the best looking to keep!

Yeah it's arguable imo how many for life but start with a ton and weed them out later.

Yep, start with some fry, and sell those that don't exhibit traits you don't like. As they get bigger, you will make money on the ones you sell and get some of the best looking cichla.

If the only other fish will be a silver I would put 4-5 in there.
