Hey how much bleach do you use to clean an empty tank? I thought it was like 1/10 or something? I have a 220 gallon I want to clean out completely.

"Clean" or sanitize?

i never use bleach or soap when cleaning out tanks. just scrub a lot and let dry for days

none...

Alright, just wondering. I have read all over the internet that it's ok to do. I guess not.

Thanks

None...vinger and warm water and a razor.

As long as you get it out, bleach is perfectly safe. Especially for nuking the snails that have taken over in a previously established tank XD

I use 1 cup of bleach for every 10 gallons... That should be plenty to kill anything in the tank (and burn your hands if you dont rinse them after touching the water).

Just remember, bleach can hide everywhere. Multiple water changes and gravel vacuumings should happen after you are ready to remove the bleach.

Just because there is always a chance, I do not take responsibility if you do not get it out of your tank and it kills your fish...

I don't see why it would ever be necessary??

if allowed to dry out, there are no fish diseases/bacteria/parasites that can survive being dried out

and the snails that lay eggs above the water line (that can be dry) should be easy to spot and remove..

all you are doing is taking the risk of damaging/killing fish and your silicone seals....
