I have a bunch of 3 week old Jack dempsey fry that i need to get rid of. I have been throwing them in my angel tank and the angels love them! There is 7 angels in the tank and they are about prebreeder size now. I threw in about 35 babies today and they were gone within a minute. I dont want them to get sick from eating too much though. How many of the fry can i feed a day? I have about 200 fry still left to go...

you can feed them as much as they want to eat. But, do mix other foods as well.

I agree, give them a few each a day with pellets. That way the feeders will last longer too.

cool, no matter how many i put in there, they chase them down until they are all gone. I am going to stop feeding them for a few days though, just to switch it up a bit.

If you feed as much as they will eat in a sitting without excess waste is a good guide

my angels are hogs. I think its impossible to over feed them. I have to cut back though or start doing bi-weekly water changes if i keep this feeding up. I just had to do the weekly water change a few days early because the water quality was going downhill.

For real! I have a client with 17 3-4'' platinum angels in a 92corner w/ a ehiem 2260 plumbed thru the bottom. They're eating machines to. They eat 4 or 5 times a day. Colorbits, Omega one flakes, spirulina, hikari carn. tablets & frzn bloodworms. They were all about the size of a penny a 4-5 months ago. They were what remained of a bag of 24 after a few weeks of QT.

I was shocked at the growth rate as this is actually the first group I've raised from tiny juvies. There's a small shoal of neon rainbows and virginae corys that a feel sorry for. Even with the buttload of food the tank recieves the corys are still a little skinny and the neon rainbows have to hover beneath the swirling mass of angels waiting desperately for scraps.

The tank is going to be WAY overstocked any day now. . .
but at least for now its looks awesome and no ones beatjng the crap out of each other. Haven't had any water quality issues yet though and the angels are thriving. . . for now. Ha that's kind of the problem. I know I'll have to cull some eventually.

I do about a 50%-80% water change once a week.
Service the eheim about every 3 months and toss in fresh seachem purigen every 6 months. So far so good and everyone is in awesome shape.
