Hi,

I recently decided to add some shell grit to my tank to buffer the water, but i think i added too much and the water went like milk, after posting about it here I was advised that the shell grit was breaking down too fast, so i pulled it all out and changed it to coral bodies.

I added about 3.5Kg and after a few days the water did the same thing. is there any way i can have a natural buffer in my tank without the cloudyness?

Am i missing something?

I ran a canister filter packed with fieldstone on my mbuna setup. Between that and all the fieldstone I used to scape it worked well.

No cloudiness. This is an hour after I pulled all the rock to pull fry. Notice algae lines don't match up yet.
