how much crushed coral do i need if my ph is 6.2, it is a 55 and i want to use it for store bought african cichlids
i dont want to use it as the main substrate, just a filter media

don't bump more than once a day, mod's might get mad...

as for your question, idk, someone on here should be able to help soon tho... patience

With a staring point of 6.2 coral in the filter alone may not be enough to get the ph up into african range. I would suggest thinking about using aragamax or a similar product as substrate. There is an additive made by API called Proper ph 8.2 This stuff will increase your kh and stabilize ph at 8.2. You will have to use it at every water change.

dont use chemicals just leave your ph alone trust me better to have stable ph then unstable

Under most circumstances, I would agree, and advise against any additives, but not with a ph of 6.2.

Do you realize 6.2 is 100 times more acidic than 8.2? It just won't work for africans.

I filled the bottom of my 55 with 30lbs of crushed coral, about 1 inch. How long before it starts to buffer the ph? How much time will it take to raise it from 6.4 to like 8.0 or 8.2?
