how much do adult Metriaclima estherae cost?

They are pretty common....I wouldn't pay over $10 for an adult.....why not buy them small and watch them grow. They require a vegetarian diet and will develope bloat if fed a high protein diet.

depends on quality and coloration as well... for example the brightly colored orange and the OB's are a less common morph and I might pay more for one if it were a nice one...

The brightly colored orange are females. Males are blue(wild), or peachy orange(captive line bred). I agree with the previous post that you should raise your own. They should only take about eight months to reach a good adult size. Most resell fish of this species that I have seen have been taken care of well and that is a shame. Why pay premium prices for a fish that you don't know the age of and has gotten the crap beaten out of him in dirty water when you can raise top quality fish yourself?

not all bright orange are females i have a very bright orange male and have been told it is rare to find a bright male like that... not all adults are poorly taken care of, I've raised a ton of zebras... mine are fed on NLS and always have clean water. I sell my 8 month old 4 inchers for $10 sometimes people dont want to wait the year to get full grown fish and start breeding etc... here's a pic you can see the bright orange male the other orange ones aren't nearly as bright the pics kinda blurry cuz the glass on tank is scratched but you can get the idea....

I agree though when you get full grown fish at the lfs they are usually not in the best health and they want to over charge people for a fish that someone had to "get rid of"!! congrats on the 24 juvies wow what size tank?
