I was wondering how much do pure bred bd's cost??

depends on quality size male or female and even source of the ray. i've seen bd's go for 1500-4000.

cheapest ive found are 2k and the quality is pretty low for a bd

Not sure if the quality, but the 11-13" migh have been uncluding the tail... It was on a website, but i forget the name..

Rays are measured across the disc - the tail tends to be as long as the ray is across, basically doubling it. Most likely it wasn't a BD, it wasn't 11-13" or it wasn't either.
