I've always thought it would be nice to have a breeding setup for fish, as its always fun to breed. I'm planning on having a 50 gallon predator tank with a senegal, peacock eel, and a leaf fish. If i had 1 breeding pair in a twenty, and ten gallon fry tank could this supply my fish with enough feeders to become part of their diet, or only an occasional treat? I've tried breeding guppies, but the fry took too long to grow to a good size to be used as a feeder, and they didn't breed often enough. I ended up deciding the amount of work and time wasn't worth the tiny amount of feeders.

They will breed about every 2 weeks because you are taking out the fry. Could take a little longer I suppose. Feeder size for how big of fish? If you have juvies of all those predators they are almost a good feeder size when free swimming. Check out some other threads including pictures or I have seen a good video on youtube that shows a good progression of their fry.

....really depends on your pair, and their comfortability in their tank
also water temps....

I have a pink convict pair and they seem to breed most when they are comfortable(water parameters) with some nice flat rocks to lay eggs on and hiding spots

The fry will get up to maybe an 1-1.5 inches in 2-3 months and depending on the maturity of your pair there could anywhere from 50-200fry

they could have up to 500 eggs if the female is full grown at 4.5 inches. my pink female ( rip ) was almost 5 inches and laid about 450 eggs without a mate..
