how much does a gallon of water weigh

i cant remember need to figure out the support needed for a rack of 10 gallon breeder tanks theyre going o the top shelf of a teir rack system 4 all together ,
also could use some tips on bolts for a concrete wall to attach the unit to what would be the strongest so they don't pull out while i'm at work :WHOA:
 
I think one gallon weights a little over 8 lbs, but I have always heard, to be on the safe side, to calculate stands and stuff saying that 1 gal equals 10 lbs
 
8.5 but dont forget other stuff in the aquarium like gravel
 
Biggest rule of thumb I see from others here on MFK for building stands that won't break is;
Overbuild!
