How much filtration would I need for a 120g tank? Could it be done w and Eheim 2217 or Fx3 and an AC110 or 2 AC70's? I'd be housing Cichlids and don't plan on overstocking. Thanks!

Yes that would be fine. Not sure what an Fx3 is. I am currently filtering my 120g(heavily stocked) with a rena XP3 and an AC110.

yea sounds like it would be fine, although i can say id rather over filter than under... you could even do 2 110s with that canister....

you need about 1200gph so just do the math

No you don't need 1200gph

Just do the research

Sorry i go over kill when it comes to filtering

1500gph on a 72g 2200gph on 100g i like really really really clean water

:ROFL:Ya I like really clean water too. Just because your moving lots of water doesn't mean your efficiently filtering it. Considering the actual flow rates of my filters I've got 1400gph on the 180g, 400gph on the 150g and 700gph on the 120g.

a fx 5 would probably be enough for just a few non wasteful fish. but i would go duel FX 5 in most situations. again it is total personal preference, everyone will tell u different. a little extra filtration never hurts. just got to watch the amount of current if ur gonna go delicate frail fish. i.e. angles

on my 120 g i have a FX 5 and an Eheim 2028 pro 2

i think what u have is fine for the fish ur putting in. but in the future u may want larger more wasteful fish. then the fx 5 would be a good choice

Opps, sorry: my original post should have said XP3,. . .my brain goes faster than my fingers can type. :-)
