As a poster above me pointed out, it depends on fish stock, feeding and the acceptable level of poo on the substrate.
Try the 405, and invest in a test kit. If you like the results, then the 405 is enough. If you see too much poo, or if you have problems with ammonia or nitrites, buy another filter to supplement. (I am a big fan of redundant filters over a single larger filter.)
On my 150 (135 actual) gallon tank, I had 3 fx5's, an aquaclear 100, a fluval 2 and a sump. Now, my tank was HEAVILY stocked, and I can't stand to see poop on the gravel.
