how much filtration is required for 1 aro & 2 BD stingrays

as the title..

one king SR aro size is 25cm
two black diamond stingrays size about 16-20cm each.

tank 200cm L x 90cm W x 60cm H
vol 1080 liter or 285gal
currently using 2 fx6

is that sufficient?

cycled filters.

gh and kh dont know, dont have the test kits for those

well i know there is no such a thing like over filtration.. but im wondering whats the minimum is needed considering the bioload 2 stingrays and one aro produces.

with the 2 rays i would add more bio filtration maybe another fx5/6 or a sump.
bring that nitrate down to around 25ppm also if u can.

planning to add plants to combat nitrate.. but since i have canisters i gotta figure out where to put the plants..

i leave the water in a separate container before wc.. i wonder if i should put the plants in the pre treated water container or in the tank?.

As your Rays grow bigger they will produce more ammonia so more filtration the better. As someone else already suggested, adding another canister or sump (if space provides) will be better in the long run. Nitrates at 40 is low for "my" standards, but if you can get it lower than 40 with Rays you're doing a good job. My Nitrates lingers over 100 and my Rays are striving. But then again, nitrates are the least of my concerns (since I religiously practice a tight WC regime). Good luck and happy ray keeping....and aro

ok cool thanks i guess i can stick with 2 fx6 for a mean time then? maybe when they reach 30cm i add another fx6


also is this just regular black diamond or royal black diamond (as what the seller named them)??..

just put the plants in a planter or pot and put them in directly inside the tank
or attach to driftwood/rock if you have any inside. best bet is to just do wc
2x a week about 50%-fin level wc since the rays produce extreme amount
of waste and ammonia.

Hi giar, that's 1 big tank you have there, with that been said filtration is just like a bag - it has a capacity of 50litres, however with the current load we may just use probably 25%. That's just a general gauge, taking into consideration of the how well the medias perform etc. Hope this helps!

You gave the tap water parameters. What are the tank water parameters? If you have 40 ppm nitrates from the tap, you might consider RO (reverse osmosis) water.
