Well the pipework in my tank was done by someone else a company I won't name

And the done the 2 far outlets with 16mm pipes and they was just to small for the size of my tank but I didn't know it at the time

Well I kept adding more and more powerful pumps to get more flow

I ended up with a 30,000 lph pump running the 2 far outlets and it was still rubbish
Matters got worse when I got some k1 stuck in one of the pipes slowing even more

After burning out 2 30,000 lph pumps I changed the 2 pipes for 1.5"

And this is the result

The other 2 outlets don't run this strong as they run a sand filter and UVs

Is this to much or is it just I am used to slow flow

It is perfect imho.

Your tank is high, so even less of a problem.

With that much flow going throw the sump its like the tank was cycling again as it wouldn't go clear no matter what I did

I thought the crap (if I'm allowed to use that word ) was getting blasted of the media

Looks ok. Is the arowana bothered by the increased flow?

Does the added flow effect the contact time with media?
Maybe your BB colonisation is limited due to the mega fast flow of water?

Or as you said... its kicking all the crap off the k1 and dumping back into the tank.

I subscribe to the theory if my fish aren't being blown around then it's good..

I have a similar question so thought I'd ask here rather than starting a new thread... Sorry for hijacking.

In my 8x2x2 tank I have 2 x 2" drain holes and a 7000lph return pump and a 75g sump, I was also worried that the turnover was too quick and that the bacteria may not be able to attach to the media? It's my first sump as usually use canisters so may just be used to poor flow haha
