If you're not one for reading, skim over the bold parts and last paragraph.

I'm currently trying to finish getting my plans for a 360 gallon DIY tank finished so I can start building it this summer. But after much research I decided on a custom DIY WD/sump and a Reeflo Barracuda that should provide about 3600 GPH after pressure loss. But that would leave me with no back up, and if I ever added a cannister or extra mechanical filtration would it provide too much flow?

I decided on a Baracuda since I can tap off of it to provide flow to a nitrate filter or aquaponics setup or any other additional filter I may need to add that doesn't neccesarily need it's own pump. But 10+ turnovers per hour is rather high in my opinion. I just wanted to know how much flow is too much.

My 360 will be a 8x3x2 plywood and glass with a undgravel jet system for the sump return (another reason for a large pump) and will house messy fish with a high bioload.

lots go for 10-12x per hour, you're fine. on my 90 i have 2xAC110's and an xp3 total flow is 1300 gph roughly...

I think you will be fine. I'm running a Reeflo Dart and a Reeflo Blackfin3600 on a 300 gallon and the fish aren't bothered by it at all.

:) I agree w/ above. You'll be fine & the added turnover will be benificial if you choose to stock on the high side or stock several large messy fish. "T"

shouldnt be an issue.. only real issue would be the stock and what sort of water conditions they come from in nature... and even that can be delt with by using spraybars/difusers/ect..
