One of the benefits of the flooding my house and village just suffered is now all my NTTs have started to take pellets. I had to leave all fish and tanks for about 2 and a 1/2 weeks due to the flooding. When i came home they were ravenous and took pellets without fuss.
I use Hikari Carnivore Sinking Pellets becuase i can't find Masivore. (i presume Carnivore is just another name for them.)
No matter how many I throw in all three fish are constantly begging for food. So as the title of the thread states how much is too much, and how often.
With market shrimp i fed every 2 days, and i could tell when the fish had had enough because basically they wouldn't eat it. I'm not sure with the pellets though, they also seem to be pooping a lot more now.

How big are they? I know I just toss in a hand full for my 7, but they are also mixed in with Polys and a BGK. Carnivores are just a smaller version of Massivores.

one is about 7" one 6" and the last 5". The biggest is the greediest. I also have 6 large CLs which love the carnivore and will leave their Hikari Algi Wafers in order to eat the Carnivore.
I had a couple of big NTTs die on me recently. I think it was due to some processed shrimp i fed them. All my fish ate it but the 2 that died ate the most. They both died to close to each other in terms of time and with the same symptoms as each other. Swollen bellies, bleeding anus, and unable to stay upright in the tank while swimming. I don't want to overfeed them.

Just keep feeding twice a day til they don't eat any more. And fast for 1 day.
Lucky all are on pellets.
Ive had loads on ntt die on me. All under 5-6 inch.
Only got 1 thinbar that is 14 inch.

I was unhappy when my other 2 died. I fed them preprepared shrimp from a tesco fridge. I'm sure it killed them. I'm hoping now they're on pellets i can grow them out to be big. I was surprised how quickly they turned on to pellets. Starve for 2 1/2 weeks, and that was it. The biggest led the others.

My largest IT is 9" and it can pack away at least 15 Massivores. One of the LFS has a 14" (give or take) ST and he told me that guy eats 70 Massivore pellets in one sitting:eek: At 5"-7" they can probably eat 10-15 Carnivore pellets easily. If they always seem hungry, I say it might even be better that way to ensure you're not over feeding them.

That is true. I will give them MS from time to time, but i want their staple to be pellets. NTTs are not easy to grow out big. Pellets have got to help. I made the mistake of giving an RTG only what it wanted to eat. That thing was more hassle than my 5 year old girl! Never again with a fish.

Careful w/ overfeeding pellet b/c when they enter their stomach, it expands esp massivore sinking pellets. ( twice the size) if u dont believe me, put one in a cup of water.

Hikari carni pellet dont expand that much.

I don't remember who but somebody recently had a large NTT die out of the blue. From what i remember it was only feeding on hikari massivore
