I am thinking of getting a 50cm pleco.. I think its just a chocolate normal pleco... any ideas of how much they go for... anyone got one?? cheers!

yeah, the big commons arent that expensive. from what ive experienced, shopkeepers rather see them go than keep them. If you want some other species, its getting more pricy. In the shop where i bought my big fish, they had several species in the 40-50 cm range, varying from 300 to 450 euro.

Picked mine up slightly larger than that for $20. They wanted $30 but he had damage to his snout and fins so he dropped $10!

we got 8"'s at my lfs for like 8$ but i would say around 20 maybe?

 He's in australia guys...

over here we pay $10-$25 for a 6cm(2.5in) common pleco.

For a 50cm common from a pet shop you'll be looking at $150+.... If you buy through a private seller it may be cheaper
It's pretty rare to see a pleco of that size for sale, I haven't seen many...

I bought a gibbicep($20) and common($10) at 6cm, 3 months later their 14cm.

Haha, that would suck paying that much for plecos. In my area we have 15"-24" commons all the time for sale. They sell from $15-25 a piece. They aren't hard to grow up. If you buy a small chocolate put him in a algae overgrown tank, he will hit that size in a year. Mine is currently at 14", and I would have liked to have been rid of him 6 months ago.

Wow, you're big crazy! I'd just make millions off of selling commons for $150!

in aus im not sure, but a lot of people buy them small, dont realise they get big, and get sold on cheap, or if your lucky free. but in aus, i think its a different story
