how much is tank this worth

Found a local tank being sold in my town on craigslist (first one i have seen in months, i live in a small small small town) its a 40 gal the woman said and they bought it from petsmart with stand. it comes with everything but a heater because it broke. they want 175, but i havent offered anything yet, im sure i can get it cheaper? heres a picture. http://img525.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aquariumvh7.jpg (the woman said its a 40 gal, the husband said its a 44gal)

i really have no idea what used tanks are worth, i only have 1 tank my self and its a 55 but i have wanted a 2nd tank and this is the only tank in months to appear locally. what should i offer? of course ill look at it first and make sure it don't leak.

If I were you I would check out the petsmart prices online. It looks like a bowfront tank to me so they are a little higher than a flat front plus it comes with the stand and everything else. I think its a pretty good deal if its hard to come across other tanks on CL where you live. I would still start at like 125.

And to the OP, That price for that tank setup used is average.
Not a bad deal, but not a "Holy crap look at this" deal.
also looks to be the 46 gallon. I'd toss out half of what they are asking as an offer then work from there.
 
im a big fan of bowfronts so id probably offer 150 or just pay the 175 so i could get the tank, that just my opinion.
 
buy it. i have the same tank. its 46g. i bought mine with just the tank and the light for 190. Bowfronts rule!!!!!!
 
wow thats a nice tank to work with, and if itw comes with everything i would offer $100-$150.
