I have a 55g tank with 4 ~2inch red bellies. I run 2 ac70's that create a little bit of turbulence around the outputs, but I thought that I'd pick up a powerhead to add some current to the tank. I bought a hydro koralia 750, rated for tanks 50-90 gallons. It was a little more than I expected.
It has increased the current in the tank quite a bit, and while they do sometimes swim in it, for now they seem to be avoiding it (swimming around under the powerhead and in a small cave to stay out of the flow.)
Could this be too much for them? I've been thinking they may just have to get used to it, and that perhaps they're just scared of it now. I'll probably need to turn it off when I feed if that gives you an idea of how substantial it is.
It is currently about 2-3" down in the water on one side of the tank. Would positioning it differently change anything to my advantage?
