My male motoro is 9-1/2", I think he is a year to year and a half old. I have a female also in the same tank that is about 10". Do you think he is getting close to becoming mature? Does he have another year or possibly less? any opinions?

Does anybody have a picture of a curled in clasper? I guess I have never seen that.

Hey.. Its hard to say. Ive had males have little nubs like yours. Then with in months they will be mature. but I had this one ray that had nubs like that for over a year. And as far as size. Ive had a 8inch fully mature male motoro. and for females. Ive had a 11inch mother give birth. But I say you have 6months to a year.

they are still small
they will grow quick once he is ready i have a motoro that was like that and then bam within a few months they were swollen

me too... my male is now mature at 12''.

thanks that gives me an idea of how much longer to expect.

Miles, I have always wondered the same thing??? BOth of mine have them and my female has several of them.

Brad, thanks for the picts!

My male motoro developed his at 10". Went from small like yours to open and curling in the space of about 3 months.

I too have wondered about the black spot. Both of my motoro have one, virtually identical. As other species can also have it, my guess it's genetic from a common ancestor. Interesting.
