How much media for a new, empty XP3?

Can anyone tell me exactly what size box of media and other stuff I need for my XP3's? What bio-media do you guys use in yours? And how much of it?

i think i used like 12 pot scrubbies, 4 per tray, than i had some left over matrix media and some ceramic rings.

I use their coarse foam in the bottom tray then their separator with pot scrubbies on top, middle tray is all seachem matrix, top tray is their bio-stars(got them free otherwise wouldn't have used them) then using their separator it's topped off with a poly fiber fill. I would experiment and find out what works well for you and you bio load.

Ehfisubstrat or Ehfisubstrat Pro - 1 liter will fill a tray.
Bio-chem stars - ALOT (40-60 and each box contains 20)


Here's what I use but I'm thinking about swapping the micro filtration and bio media trays to put the biomedia on top.

i like the way you did that merc... i have both my xp3s the exact same way but instead of the Ehfisubstrat in the middle tray i have matrix and biomax. but im thinking of getting some Ehfisubstrat after reading the surface area of those things haha
