How much would it cost me to biuld myself a 100gallon tank, normal dimmensions and all that, and stand? I would buy a filter and all the other add ons for it. I want to do a DIY cause I hear it saves you a lot of money, but how much really?

if you want to save money, then I suggest going bigger than 100 gallons :)

I want to go with a 120 but I think it would be to big for me. I currently have a 75 gallon and a 20 gallon. the 75 is pretty big for my room so a 120 would be even bigger (obviously)

I would like a 120 though.......

you dont really save much when you build anything less than 300 unless you have the glass already or can get an awesome deal on it.

If your going bigger, GO BIG. Size does matter :naughty: You can buy a used 125 pretty cheap these days with the full set up....Would not save you much and being your first tank over 100 gals....not saying anything against your building skills but 100+ galls on the floor would not be fun I would think!

Just my 2 cents.....but Id buy one for 100-125 gal instead of make....cost you around 2-400 bucks for tank and stand maybe filters too...check ebay or MONTERFISHKEEPERS CLASSIFIEDS!

Home built glass tanks that size are no cheaper than buying one, esp. if you buy from a manufacturer.

if you go with a plywood/glass tank you could probably save some money... go with a taller tank, so you can get more galllonage... the glass may have to be alot thicker though...
