i just found out that my nitrate is at like 10 ppm and most fish can take that with no problem but what about datnoids? After i found out i did a 10 gallon water change in my 75G, doing 10 more gallons tomorrow. I'm using 4 gallons on RO water and 1 gallon tap water. any ideas on what to do to make my water better for my datnoids?Snapshot_20111006_2.JPGdat 006.JPG

I would do 50% weekly if your tank is established and back off on the feeding to every other day. That should bring your readings down.

doesnt need to do anymore if the tank is lightly stocked, honestly 10ppm is nothing to worry about but if u really wanna bring it down just knock it up to a 20% WC weekly

I know almost nothing about dats, so I won't comment on that issue, but for most hardy fish, 10 ppm of nitrates is basically nothing. For most fish, up to 40 ppm is completely fine and they can survive MUCH higher levels than that (not that they should be kept at higher levels). If the current WC schedule is keeping nitrates around 10 or below, it's fine to only do 10 gallons a week, but more would also be fine if you really want lower nitrates

oh thanks guys, i just got done removing all of my gravel and plants so now my tank is bare bottom. I have a Q tho, if my RO water tested 7.4 for ph and on the thing it said "Retained some natural minerals" its safe to put in my fish tank right away right?
