My new addition.
I've had him for about 20 hrs now.
He/she's around 1.5'

Labeled Red Devil but I have my doubts...:grinno:
These shots don't show his red tones @ all. :irked:
Still really skittish so it's quite hard to get a good shot.
I was really lucky to get these. :D

I added a fry/grow-out with him in the QT tank & it seems to settle him a bit. I might throw in 1 more.
He's not so quick to hide as much.
I hope I can get more clear shots of him/her.
I have to try to get the red tones.
The red is in his gills, under his chin, along his belly, & in his fins. A bit of pink through out is body too.

I have him/her next to my comp so I can keep an eye out.
It's eating now about 10-15 small pellets & pooped twice(that I've seen)
A bit of empty poop casing(1/4 of the actual poop) in the 1st poop, his belly was a bit sunken when I got him home. 2nd poop was a quick one after I added the other fry into the QT tank. no empty casing this time.

I can see RD & Midas traits, I guess I'm going to wait it out to see which genes are more dominate in this fish.

What do you guys & girls think?

I'm hoping it keeps it's juvi bars, but fear its a fader as most are.

I feed my other RD/Midas Hikari Gold, NLS Thera +A, & Omega One Super Color.
I treat them to frozen blood worm once in a while too.
Frozen Shrimp once in a while. I try frozen peas every now & then too.

I was looking to try some Grand Sumo Red(FH food) to try to promote kok & color development but never tried it yet. Any RD/Midas owners have experience with this brand? Or can you suggest a good brand I could try?

My fish seem to enjoy what I feed them so I don't want to mess up a good thing.
I had my GT go on a long hunger strike because I decided to switch his food.(even after going back to his old food)

Looking forward to hearing/reading you thought & suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks man!!!

He was the "alpha" in tank I saw him in, I noticed the eyes, & made an impulse buy. I was doing good too, I haven't bought a few in over 6-8 months. :P

Short of adding hormones to the food, no food exists that will enhance nuchal hump size beyond the foods that you are already feeding. Genetics will play the main role as to the size of your fishes nuchal hump.

I figured that much, genetics is always the final factor with theses things. :D
I was wondering if anyone has noticed any results when using 1 brand of food over another?
I've seen a few people document(pix & vids) results with a product called Ching mix(sp) on a few FH boards.

Many of these foods promote growth, when is too much protein a bad thing though?
@ what point do we turn away from a product because the protein content to too high?
Right now,(of the foods I have) the 1 with the highest protein count/ Guaranteed Analysis is 42%.min. Crude fat = 11% min.
This product also claims to made made of real seafood.

The fish in your ava is a stunner!

Thanks for the response.:headbang2

Do an advanced search for the word "amino" under my user ID.
That should give you plenty of reading, and then some. :D

Thanks buddy!!!

you probably missed the . at the end of RD. :)

Just keep in mind that the amount of protein required for optimum growth will be based on the life stage of the fish, and that not all crude protein is created equally.

Yup I forgot the "." .
:D

I searched amino & can up with quite a bit of good reading.
I'm glad you've added your input regarding food.
Seem like your the go to guy to ask regarding food.

Thanks again RD. !

Update:
By the look from the vent,I'm pretty sure it's a male.
He has a great appetite now, I feeding him twice a day while he's in the QT.
I'll be bumping it up to 3 time once he moves to the grow out.
He looks like he's the alpha, no harm done but he does chase(for now) :naughty:.
