Hi guys, so as the title says, I’m wondering how much purigen to use. I know Seachem says 100ml will treat 100 gallons for I think 4-6 months. So does that mean 75 ml for 75 gallons etc etc, aka 1ml per gallon? Reason I ask is because I have a 75 gallon that I’m stocking with a few swordtails, 12 giant danios and eventually a pair of tbar cichlids. I have sand as substrate, a bunch of rock, driftwood and a few java fern. Considering all that is in the tank displacing water, I obviously don’t have 75 gallons of water in there, maybe closer to 60-65? So, is 60-65 ml of Purigen enough? Will extra Purigen remove too many impurities and not leave anything for the plants to feed off of?

Its hard to over do it. Grab two 100ml and see if you like the results. I think i came close to over doing it lol i basically filled a length of 4 inch pvc with it messing around with diy projects. Nitrates were almost 0. My worry was possibly starving the bb and crashing the system when it came time to recharge it.

One thing i can say the stated suggested usage is garbage. 100 gals per 100 ml is subjective. Its the bioload that will dictate how much you need
