I'm planning on setting up a tank with several angelfish in it (most likely 6 to 8 given the size of the tank) and hopefully once two have paired off, trying to breed them--would i need to move them to a seperate tank of their own? and if i do would a 30 gallon long tank give them enough room?
and just to ask----how does the difficulty of breeding angelfish compare to the difficulty of breeding bettas(i've had a little luck breeding bettas in the past, tried to breed oscars and that just didn't happen)?? :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

I've seen people use 10 gallons but too me thats just way to cramped. I would say atleast a 20 or so could be enough room for a single pair.

20gallons!!?? For that many angels, a 75G would be nice. Even the you'd need an appropriate amount of decor and vertical spawning locations. Just remember, angel's and tall fish and love the extra height. A 30G long, 20 or 10G just can't provide that.

i agree, you'll have more succsess from a bigger tank :D

Angels don't need much room. They will be more comfortable and happier in a larger tank.. Make sure you put breeding spots with slate you can take out when they lay. Think of how you would feel living your whole life in 1 room..

you might get them to spawn in the tank with 6-8 (i would use at least a 60 gal for that), but the fry would never survive, the parents will give up eventually and the fry will get picked off. I agree a 20 is big enough for a pair. Not sure on the dimensions of a 30 long. If you want the fry to survive and grow out, you'll need yet another tank to move them to. even a 30 gal isn't enough to grow out that many and when the parents spawn a second time (if you get them to do it once, they'll probably do it again in 2-4 weeks) they'll lose interest in the first batch.
