simple question again, search just gave an abudance of sick fish threads.
200gal tank, 70gal sump, health fish, salt or not?
How much if yes, thanks in advance.

What is your reason for adding salt? I can't understand your post.

sorry for the confusion but I seem to recall reading owners add a small amount of salt most of the time, if this is inccorect I apologise.
Obviously with sick fish, salt is always the first thing recommended to help, maybe i'm confused.
Do you add small amounts of salt to tanks when you change water or not?

a table spoon per 5 gals. 1/2 of that when doing a water change...that's what "I" do.

For that reason, no, salt is not needed. It's a myth that it helps the fish in the long run. Use it for ich cases only.

TRUE.....but after i do a 50% or more water change, my fish gets ich. That's just what "I" do and it works for me.

How long has the ich been in your tank? How long have you been adding salt?

Around here (and where clasic-chasis lives) addition of salt is quite common. haynchinook334's suggested amount seems to be a rule of thumb.

I use salt routinely on my indoor set-ups - not for the big one though (too much salt and i don't water to contaminate ground around during water changes)

If you somehow get those tiny little parasite wiggler worms, adding salt will help you get rid of them... It's very common when your giving your aro a treat from the LFS mainly big chains where they're infested with it.
