how many lbs./kilos did you use?

how big is your tank?

and how many inch/cm deep is said sand?


i am looking at doing my 125 and do not know how much sand to use

I've always gone with the pound per gallon rule. I want to say that my 50g has 50lbs and it's probably 2in deep.

i have 100lbs of sand in my 8' 240g
a lil thin but thats all i wanted to add,not to thin tho like you would think
i might add another 25lbs someday to fill in where fish have "decorated" lol
then i have about 100lbs of sand between a 100g,20g,10g x 2
so i would say 100 will be good for a 125g
"hard to say how thick mine is cus the fish never leave it level"

that seems really thin but ill take your word that its not too thin

damn those fish for not leaving the sand alone don't they know how hard it is to get it all nice looking. lol

i would like to do around 1-2" so i think that 100lbs. is looking like what i want.


So the next question would be is where can i get some of this 3M color quartz, pretty sure thats what i want, do i go to a pool supply place or a masonry store?

I used a 100 lbs in my 150g. It has a footprint of 96" x 18" and this gave me about an 1 1/2" layer of sand.

i think ya get that at lowes or depot
never used it so i cant really say bad or good
i know pool filter sand is nice in many ways tho

i couldn't find a distributor of just the sand it would only let me do whole pools unless i did it wrong
