How much sand should I place in a 500 gal aquarium I am building?!

whats footprint and how tall u want sand

The general rule of thumb is to use 1 pound of gravel per gallon of water, but since sand is more dense, then I would use alittle less than that

A 500g (anywhere from 96"x36" to 120"x36" approx) would need between 4-5 cubic feet of sand (dry) to give 1 1/2"-2" coverage, your dry weight will be 400-500 pounds.

Id just add sand in 100 lbs at a time until your where you want to be. but thats me.
