Hi,
I know this is a really ambiguous question. But I was wondering about how much a Blue Acara that's about 2 inches should cost? A LFS I just went to had it listed at $45. That just seems really high to me but I'm not that familiar with what they would normally cost. Is that too high or are they just an expensive fish?

in the North East fish prices are much higher than those California guys. I would say $20-$30 they aren't that common around me but there is also not many people looking for them. The Electric Blue Acara are selling for $50 around me.

Are you talking about the electric blue acara or just the regular blue acara?

Farm bred blue acaras are dirt cheap. I can get 2" fish locally for anywhere from $8 - 12.

Electric blues are flooding the market now and those prices should come down. They can be had on Aquabid for $15 or so a piece, maybe less. I still see them selling for $20+ in stores but they are easy to find for less.

I don't think I'd pay $45 for standard blue acaras, especially if they're the mass produced and farm-raised ones.

Pets Plus in Tewksbury, MA and Londonderry, NH sells them for about $25

I just bought two electric blue acara in a LFS for $11 each. I also saw several bags of EBA for sale in my local club auction. When EBA first came out couple years ago, they were selling for $40. Price has plummeted because EBA are fertile and people have been successful in breeding them.
