Just a quick question for those who have done it, or a similar sized tank. How many 1, 3 or 10oz tubes did you need to do the job?

I was going to buy 2 10oz tubes meant for caulk guns but I wanted to make sure it's enough.

The LFS only has 1oz and 3oz tubes so I guess I'll have to use hardware store stuff or order some All Glass brand from Big Als. I was going to order some from Foster/Smith but they only sell Perfecto brand and I've read of some bad things about thier tanks and already was nervous to use that then in the description it says "for repairing leaky aquariums or building small aquariums", I am completely resealing the 125g and the "small aquariums" thing sealed the deal on me shying away from that brand.

I called 2 LFS, one said they had 1 and 3oz tubes and the other was out but said just to get 100% silicone from the hardware store and I'd be fine because 100% silicone is all the same.

get the ge brand 100% silicone, make sure to ask someone there to make sure there are no anti-mildew agents. The size to fit a caulk gun costs around $3 a piece, much cheaper then anything else meant for aquariums.

I'm not sure exactly how much you need, but get more than you will think you need because stopping, letting it dry, and starting over again could make for week spots.

Well I got two caulk gun sized tubes of GE Silicone I 100% Silicone, hopefully that is enough. If anyone thinks/knows it isn't please let me know. It says not for Aquariums but I looked all day at work and it seems they put that on there for liability purposes and it used to say it was ok for Aquarium use. Along with finding hundreds of people suggesting it. So lets hope it holds.

all depends on how good you are... 1 should be enough.. but trial and error and not being a human caulking machine... id go with 2 just to be safe.. if it takes you more than that id be worried...
