how much tahitian moon sand would i need for a 280g? the tank is 72Lx24Wx36H. I have heard 1lb per gallon but would i need that much since the tank is 36h? any ideas would be appreciated!
thanks!

I used 40lbs on my 40B, ended up with 1 1/2 - 2" layer.. that's exactly 1lbs per gallon.. just depends if you want your substrate to be that thick or not...

I have 220 pounds of Sunset Gold in my 210 (same 72x24 footprint) and it is about 2.5"-3" average depth.

How much did that set you back Dan?

I got it from Pet Solutions when it was $17.99/bag, so $197.89 total. The same thing would cost $22 more now, since it is up to $19.99 again.

I used twelve bags for my 150 and needed some more for a deeper level so I would say 13 to 18 bags for that tank depending on the effect you want to create.
