Looking at getting 2 blue azul peacock bass and an Oscar to stock my tank, I've got a 5x2x2ft tank cycling. Im planning on putting my 13" sailfin pleco in there too.

Would this be adequate space for adult specimens?

Could do a pair of oscars in that size of a tank.3' is ideal width for most peacock bass. I only have a 2 foot footprint ATM but plan for atleast a 3' footprint in the near future

Yeah you have time. It takes a few years for pbass to grow to that size

Sounds like you just picked up that 5'x2'x2' if you just got it cycling, i would have gotten a bigger tank if that's the case. bare minimum for pbass that is not temensis, pinima, etc (any of the long body shape cichla) imho is 180 6'x2'x2' with wider always being better of course. You will be ok for a while, but i feel that 5'x2'x2' will really stunt their growth when they hit 14" or so. I use a 4'x2'x2' growout/QT tank in my room and feel they start getting cramped in there around 12", 5'x2'x2' is not a whole lot bigger. Get the azuls, but hopefully you will upgrade to a 72"x30"x24" or larger within a year and a half.

Moved to cichla

Bear in mind how fast azuls grow too.

With that being said, assuming you're getting juvies, you have PLENTY of time in that tank. Easily a year, year and a half. They grow lighting fast the first year, and slow down after depening on their feeding schedule. My feeding schedule and WC's were getting me almost 2 inches a month it appeared, I cut that down tremendously after 3 months to help slow it down a little lol
