OK I"m probably going to "tank up" early next year. I have an oscar and a pacu now, but may have to re-home the pacu as he's been harassing the O. Anyway I want to have an aro (black or silver), gar (spotted or Florida), a bichir, a nice-sized cat like a lima, and maybe some more cichlids (severums maybe, something that won't beat up the O). How big of a tank am I looking for with those fish? Of course the whole thing is out the window if the full-grown aro or gar would be big enough to make a meal of the O. I'm thinking I'd need something with at least a 6'x2.5' footprint...

aha, you will need something with like a 8x4 footprint,

Even more so with the Pacu...

The gar
Lima
Pacu
and almost every other fish you mentioned get HUGE
and would probaly kick the **** out of the oscar, they are the kittens of the monster world:ROFL:

:iagree: couldn't been said better

Well...maybe skipping the gar & aro then. I hear of people stuffing aro's in 75s and 125s and I knew that's a no-go.

Or I could just get 2 larger tanks I suppose, so the O wouldn't be a snack...

That oscar is gonna get to at least 12" about the only fish I think that you could get that would make it a snack would be a Red Tail Cat. I would get the 6' x 2.5' tank and do a little research to stock that monster tank.
