I have had cichlids before but none this big. I have only had him for 2 days and he loves the Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets. They are the "mini pellets" that I had left over. Any suggestions on how many mini pellets he should eat in one day? He is pretty hungry, but most fish are hogs.

the thing with chocolates, atleast mine, is they will keep eating and eating given the chance. maybe feed a couple times a day. dont just feed pellets also, vary his diet.

Yea mine will eat till he explodes if I let it. I give him 2 or 3 large pellets about twice a day

Yep, they eat like an oscar (and mine's as thick as one).

Thank's for all of the info. I'm used to feeding smaller fish, and yes he is a hog. He eyes the surface of the water constantly for food. He doesn't like flakes though. I will vary his diet once he is used to the tank, it's only been three days.

looking up is part of their traits. all choclates swim tilted looking up allmost all the time

That's good to know. Thanks for the info. I was beginning to wonder about that.
No prob when i first got mine i seen that trait and did some research its due to them looking for bugs and stuff at the surface.
