I was wondering how much i should feed my 13inch cichla mono. latley he's gotton picky i was wondering how many hikari massivore pellets i should feed him at one feeding. a week ago he was readily accepting pellets now hes not so exited about the pellets is this normal

If you just weaned him into pellets not to long ago, then yes that is normal. Just continue to feed it to him and eventually it will be like nicotine to him. Worked with my group of cichlas so its proven! :D

I usually throw around a handful of big hikiri pellets into my tank, but yet again I have 6 hungry mouths to feed, 5 cichlas all around 7"-8" and a FRT.

Or you can just feed him what he will eat, scoop out the rest and let them dry for the next feeding.;)

Just be happy he's eating pellets, my 4 Mono's went for almost four weeks without eating, and i gave in and fed them live again. So be very very happy, he's eating pellets..........Good luck.

A fish that size would really only need to eat about 6-10 of those pellets every other day, or 3-5 pellets daily. Massivore in the fish world is like eating a deep fried twinkie. It might not look like much, but there are plenty of calories. If one pellet is equal to 2 goldfish as they claim, 6 pellets would be like feeding a dozen goldfish. Would you feed them a dozen feeders every day? I feed my fish every other day, sometimes every 3rd day. Reduces the frequency of water changes and the fish dont get fat and lazy.
