How much to feed?

G'day all,

I'm pretty new to keeping rays, and have just recently purchased my first two. They are about 8-10" from side to side. I have kept plenty of fish before and know when they have had enough, but these rays are eating heaps!

They look very healthy and all, but can you feed too much? I know with my barramundi, he would eat until he exploded! At the moment the rays would eat half a cup of a seafood mix 2-3 times a day between them.

Is this to much?

Any help on this subject would he appreciated!

gday,

i have been feeding them a number of things actually mate. Pellets, prawns and a seafood mix. they are very veracious feeders and i am happy about that for sure.

All sounds good. Saw your picture post of the two rays in another thread and they look great. One concern I would have is to make sure you don't overfeed to the point that the biological filtration cant keep up. Also full healthy rays are great but overfed/powerfed rays could potentially have health issues in the future so its important to try and find a good balance.

thanks fellas. yea i do keep up the water quality anyways as i have heard how touchy they can be. thanks for the help
