I have a recently bought, 55 gallon tank i got from craigslist, originally came with 5 10 inch pacus. haha. Yeah i know. I gave them to my best friend which has a 600 gallon tank. And now i have 18 electric yellow cichlid juveniles.

I have them in the tank with aragonite as substrate and one kinda crappy HOB filter. I'm in the process of getting a new propeller for one of my nice eheim canisters. Plus under gravel jets which aren't set up yet.

But anyway. ATM my tank seems very still, and not much water movement, the other filter and the UGJ's will add some more movement but i dont think quite what im looking for. Will two hagen aquaclear 70 powerheads (rated at 350 gph with air) Put enough water movement and enough airation in the tank for africans?

Thanks.

In my opinion that should be enough for now but I would hook up the other filter before the fish get too big. When it comes to African cichlids I like to have between 10 and 15 times the tanks volume of water as turnover rate for the filters. On my main display tank I run 3 emperor 400 filters and 3 filstar XP3 filters as well as 2 penguin 660 powerheads. this gives me 2250 Gallons per hour filtration and I use the powerheads to direct flow to places where I believe food and or poo could get trapped. This is all on a 125 gallon tank.
