I have a new 72gal bow front tank setup. After gravel and a few small rocks are added is there a way to figure out how many gallons of water are in the tank? I think there is about 70 pounds of gravel and maybe 5 pounds of rocks.

Let me have the internal dimensions in inches (L x D x H). For depth, I need the end measurement and the front/back measurement at the center. Med pea gravel takes 75% of the substrate volume. Let me have the average height of the gravel bed and I'll factor that in on the calculations. It won't be dead on so if you're a Monk type...sorry.

add water 1 gallon at a time  :j/k:

Thanks Oddball. I think I figured it out close enough. I needed to do a water change so I measured out 15 gallons and made a mark on the side of the tank. Using that measurement for the rest of the tank I estimate there is somewhere over 60 gallons in it. The gravel and landscaping probably displaces the remainder of the 72 gallon capacity.
