how much would it cost me to get a tank like this running?

Salt water tanks get really expensive really fast. You have to use marine salt instead of aquarium salt. Salt for 50g of water cost me $15. Small water changes are not bad but when things go wrong and you need to do several big ones, it seems like you are just flushing money.

The good news is that lionfish/scorpion fish are coming down in price. They can now be had for around $60 (might be regional though).

salt isnt that bad.

but a leopord shark is a BIG fish

ive persoanlly caught them over 6 feet long and they get even bigger.

and the ribbon eel is IMPOSSIBLE. they litteraly never eat and what not. i DO NOT necomend them to a begginner in the salt world.

ur looking at a nearly 600 gallon tank for the shark. ditch the sahrk and ur down to like a 75.

if u ditch the shark and go with the 75 (only real pheasable option) its pretty cheap. so other than the cost of the tank ur looking at like $50 in powerheads, and then like $300 in live rock ($4 a lb). if ur serious at pursuing this feel free to PM me and ill give a better answer, but its late and im feeling short winded.

ribbon eels love guppies. Thats how I have kept them alive. But thats the only thing ive ever seen one eat. As far as the leopard shark, at that size, they are illegal. You have to have them at 3' i believe, for it to be legal, and nothing less than that size.
To house a three foot shark you would need a tank anywhere from 400-1000 gallons, preferbly bigger. That and depending on the shark, some are more aggresive than others, and will kill anything you have in the tank.

soo what would be the total cost for a set up like this one?
or with a shark that only gets like 3-4'?

Atlantic Sharpnose sharks might be what you are looking for. They max out at 4ft and look like a black tip without the black on their fins.

Expect to pay between $3000 and up for a system that will house them.

oo very nice

i thought it would cost way more than that
ahah
well allright

Btw, that one in the pic is full grown. Most of them are around 1.5ft.

There was someone on here quite a while ago that built a huge tank for some black tip sharks.
