So I pay about 60 - 90 a month in water and I only have one 220. I used to pay 90 every two months, even with the 220. Then my water company switched to monthly billing, and some how my monthly bills are almost exactly what my bi month bills where :screwy:

I have made many calls and the have had people come and look and swear I am just using that much, some times they say I use 1500 Gallons a day. Then after this last time they came out 2 twice in a row unannounced and without me calling, and replaced my meeter. And the next month my bill was for one unit of water 27.00 compared to the normal 5 - 6 units. So I thought finally this is over, and now its right back to 60 a month. It still puzzles me how that one month I could have only used one unit of water when I have according to them been using 4 - 7 units a month for 4 years.

With my water being so much I am always looking for ways to reduce water changes, I have been doing 50% a week, but now that I am about to have almost 800 gallons of aqariums I might have to go to like 25% a week.

man that sucks

I have a well so I pay almost nothing, basically what ever the electricity cost is to pump it from there.

I have a 75, 125 and a 180. I do 50% water changes a week on all my tanks and my bill is $50 including waste water.

I had these two 1960's toliets replaced a month ago in my house with modern 2010 low flow toilets and they both have off set enought water in three days to fill my 75 gallon tank and in a month they off set enough water to fill a 300 gallon tank.

gotta love condos, especially when i just filled my 500g, then realized it needed to be drained. lol

I also use a well and do not pay directly....Of course a well pump and pressure tank are not free....A new pressure tank cost me 900 bucks and a new well pump every 10 years 1000......so 2000 dollars every 10 years is 16.66 per month averaged plus electricity.

Last months water bill was $42.07. They raise our rates every year. Right now, we only have a 300 gallon tank set up. 1/09=123.32, 2/09=139.47; 3/09=127.47; 4/09=42.80 Turned out we had a broken water line. Toilets that run 24/7, leaking water pipes can result in large water bills. Also, old refrigerators that run 24/7 can cause a dramatic increase in an electric bill--I've been there too :(

My house is from the 1950's and I am know of at least 1 sink that drips, so I know I have higher usage because of those. my complaint to the water company was not my usage but that when they switched me from bi monthly to month after 3 years my bill stayed the same.

As I said to them it make no sense that the same month you switch my to monthly billing that my bill became the same as the it was when it was bi monthly. So for example for 3 years my usage was 7 - 12 units every two months, now its like 5 - 8 a month. which is not that far off and could be explained by adding to my family, however the strange thing is every bill there is like 3 days in a month they say I randomly used 1500 gallons in a day. this was during time I used a drip system so my daily tank usage was 24gallons, and to further complicate things they would say there are multiple days where I use 0 gallons. Now I know thats a lie because of the drip system and the leaking plumbing, so clearly something is going on, it may be the right amount of water but the meter is still reading incorrectly.
