My dad got a breeding pair of discus in his 55 Gallon tank, and he wants to know how much the pair can fetch for? How much do you think its worth? They already layed several batches of egg, but due to high volume traffic in the tank (lot of tetra), the eggs got eaten.

The white/red is the male around 5.5" and the snake skin is the female around 4.5"

There are many truths that are becoming myths with these fish ;) They are not so hard anymore.

Its still hard, my dad change the water everday and siphon the excrete in the pebble. He feed them Hikari Bio-Pure blood worm and brine shrimp.

Should be 2 pair of discus, but the other pair doesnt seem to spawn and in the first picture, the small melon discus on the top is stunned.

and YES, the two big male fight all day (the first pic, on the other side of the tank white pigeon blood (male) of the other pair) :O

Total 5 discus in the 55G and a bunch of cardinal, neon, lemon and red eye tetra

I just took some more pic, the 2 pair, the 10G quarantine tank, the tetra, the stunned melon discus and the tank full shot :D Enjoy!

Why not put the pair in their own bare bottom tank, and raise some fry? You will never raise any babies in a community tank. The lot of babies would fetch more than a single mixed strain pair. One looks to be a turq, the other a pigeon.

Cause my dad doesnt want the fry, its too much work, so he doesnt bother to seperate them :nilly:

It could be a nice mix up, he and I are curious of whats the baby are going to look like, since its two different species, but no one want to do the extra work. Kinda want to sell the pair and want to know what they worth. He got his eye fix on an albino 6" discus at lfs for $200 :O

We already got 4 tanks running, 2 of mine and 2 of his, we dont want to set up an additional tank (water and heat bill with scary numbers)
