How ofteh do you feed your Ornate????

I have 15" Ornate Bichir Ive had him about 3 months now and he only feeds twice a wk. Ive tried feeding daily but he is just not intersested! I usually have to throw a cup of mix muscles, prawns and massivore in just so he has a chance of feeding. He is quiet dozy and only gets a few but he seems really healthy.

My question is how often do you feed yours and is mine ok just dinning every 4 days or so?

I feed my Ornate, every other day, sometimes everyday. I feed tilapia,MP,pellets.
 
I usually feed Shrimp or Massivores everyday, but I've skipped some feedings here and there.
 
What's your temperature at?
Higher temps means higher metabolism. Fish will be more active and eat more.

Cooler temps, is the opposite.

Now the real question is how often did it actually came out to eat?!!!

I only see it out like once or twice a week....

I see it everyday. :D My Ornate isn't a shy eater. :)
 
its probably due to his previous routine of the previous owner or habit if from the wild.

I feed everyday, i actually see not all of them are interested with eating everyday, most of them will eat but some i can observe will take some food only after a day, specially the once that might have gotten more of a share the previous feeding.

one of my lapradie also eats only every other day.

i also have a shy weeksii that only eats if the food is near its comfort zone, i regularly try to place the food on one place, but also drop food in his place just for him.

the tank is 8feet long, so the once that dont converge on the feeding area may not get anything if they are slow to react.

The tank is 28oC

Its always out , it just doesnt notice there is any food till its all gone. Ive tried feeding it with tongs but my aro just steals it.

He seems really healthy, I want some good growth out of him and I dont see how him eating every 3-4 days I will get this.
