I know feeding is always discussed but I'm new to piranha and want to make sure they are perfect. I picked up a package of frozen bloodworms to start and just feed them a cube today and they seemed to love it. Is it also ok to keep feeding them a cube a day? Or should I feed them 2x a day? Also, is there any harm with just keeping them on a bloodworm diet or should I get some other stuff and what? Let me know!

I would say 2 times a day when they are that young. and try to give them flakes too. at that young age they are less likely to be picky and flakes have alot of great nutrients, also beef heart will make them grow faster.

at that stage you want to feed them 3-4 time a day with small portion. piranha eat alot when small and very active and aggressive as well. If you don't keep the stomach full you have a chance to lose a or some piranha.

i would feed them different variety of food.

blood worm
raw shrimp
silver side
smelt
beef heart
etc....

keep the temp in between 76-82f..the hotter the temp the more active they are. the more active the food they will eat. however high temp make them aggressive as well.

1 cube of blood worm per feeding would be a good amount for them? They aren't touching the flakes.

3 cube a time is good....change the diet every week so they won't be picky when the grow up.

i have 4 piranhas about 3 inches
and to fill em up and make em grow faster i feed them 5 cubes of frozen a day
so piranhas about that size i would feed mabey 2 or 3 cubes

3 cubes each time? It took them about 30 minutes to finish the 1 cube.

how long have you had them? they may still be adapting to their new home. mine didn't eat at all for about two weeks when i first got him.

This is day #3 at home with the P's. I've been doing 1 frozen bloodworm cube in the morning and one in the night. They finish the morning cube so far but only about half the night time cube. Are the excess bloodworms going to raise the ammonia in my tank? I plan on doing a 30% water change a week. Magnum 350 filter should be fine, right?

The RBP's are actually very active when i turn the light on. They all come out of their hiding spot one by one and are already eagerly looking for the food. I've been watching them alot at night time and they are all swimming around and no one seems to be getting nipped at which i think is good.
