How often do they shed their stinger????

I've had my male peruvian motoro for about 6-8 months. He's probably tripled in size and I'm curious how often he'll shed his stinger.

Here's a pic to show the new one growing in. Will he be dropping his stinger soon???

You can expect your ray to loose his stinger 3-4 times a year, but the stinger is replaced prior to loosing as you see in your pic.

6-8 months and he hasn't lost a stinger yet, to my knowledge.

I wouldn't think it will be much longer.

Just a word of caution, the stingers can still contain venom so becarful if you are taking the stinger out of the tank.
