How often do you replace your bio media

As I read a box of Fluval Bio Max, I see they recommend replacing it every 3 months.

My question, how often do you throw out old bio media and replace it with new?

Personally I have occassionally rinsed off some of my bio but do not replace it.

I never do either... sometimes I'll rinse it, but thats always in cold water, and only if theres another filter on the tank.

Never ever. Waste of good media that lasts forever and ever to never get replace ever.

Just keep it clean. Make sure. You have a good pre-filter and periodically give the media a rinse, and it will last you forever.

At $17 a box up here and my fluval using 3 boxes at a time, hmm $204 a year in bio, that will drive sales

never, but never rinse it in water that has chlorine.. it'll kill off the BB colonies.
